WORD!

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant

Or as we know her - Lana Del Rey

Born in the same year as me, Del Rey is a singer-songwriter who is known for her hit singles "Video Games" and my all time favorite "Born To Die". When I first heard her I was mesmerized by the calmness of her tone and almost lullaby-ish voice. Sweet sounds I tell you.

"Del Rey's music has been noted for its cinematic sound and its references to various aspects of pop culture, particularly that of 1950s and '60s Americana.[5] The singer has been described as a "self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra". Del Rey is also signed to NEXT Model Management."
She is undoubtedly a star in the making! Lana was discovered after posting some of her singles online. And was the recipient of a Q Award for the "The Next Best Thing". Why am I not surprised? Her sound is fresh and something out of the ordinary.

I couldn't resist, so I just had to get all of her songs. And to my surprise, she wrote a song called Carmen haha. But don't worry, there is no connection whatsoever. "Off to the Races" was featured in season 4 of the Mentalist. And on par if I might add. Its just awesome how certain tracks can make or break a scene, don't you think? But back to the topic at hand. I think you must go out and get her album. If not that, at least one of the aforementioned tracks :) Trust me. You wont be disappointed! I read on somewhere that she is already busy in studio with a 3rd Album. Cant wait to hear what that's like. d(^_^)b
