The Hobbit

September 21, 1937: The Hobbit is published.
J.R.R.Tolkien’s classic children’s novel turns 75 years old today. The book begins with the line “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit”, a sentence which, according to Tolkien, came to him spontaneously while marking papers. The first edition dust jacket was designed by the author himself, who also provided the black and white illustrations. Since 1937, The Hobbit has been translated into over forty languages and sold tens of millions of copies. The initial print of 1,500 copies ran out in three months, and response was unanimously favorable. Tolkien’s close friend and fellow fantasy author C.S. Lewis wrote in The Times Literary Supplement: ”Prediction is dangerous: but The Hobbit may well prove a classic.
Perhaps The Hobbit’s greatest legacy was not the book itself but the sequel that was published seventeen years later - the far more complex first volume of The Lord of the RingsThe Fellowship of the Ring. Urged on by his publishers, who wished to make the most out of the smashing success that was The Hobbit, Tolkien worked on his sequel slowly and deliberately through the years of World War II and after. Both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings brought the popularity of fantasy literature to new heights and established Tolkien as the “father” of modern high fantasy.
The first film of Peter Jackson’s new trilogy, based off The Hobbit, is set for release in December.

don't know about you, but I am amped!! Peter Jackson never disappoints :)

Journey as a Creative

———————
In today’s society, making a living off art is one of the hardest careers to achieve. Society also creates big barriers and boundaries that make this even harder to overcome. This poster is a celebration of those that have picked up the pencil even in hard times and still push their creativity. Because that is something we can’t lose.

shit just got real 0.1

So I'm sitting here in the kitchen cooking food. My happy place :)

Anyhoo, here's always a pile of newspapers. New and Old. I always browse through everything be it newspapers, magazines, books etc to get new "material". Its then when my one friend told me to stop writing bs and start writing the real stuff LOL

She's right I suppose. So as soon as I figure out this mobile Blogger (darnit) you'll get an open and honest piece of me LOL. Once a week. Where I dissect an issue. Be it the economy, fashion, "war on terror"(said in a Bush accent) haha. I can't say I'll be unbiased. But at least I'll be keepin it real! ;)

stay awesome!!

The Mullet Dress

So as I was browsing the interwebs for a dress design. I came across this very unique style of dress. Some people call it a Hi-Low dress, but the more popular term is a MULLET DRESS. At first I laughed because I thought of the hairstyle hehe. But then realised its for that exact same reason. Short infront and long at the back. I think its cute and classy. Not to mention teasing the eyes :)

People went even as far as wearing it for wedding dresses. Which is a bit too risky for my liking but hey, to each his own! I think its really flattering. Especially if you have nice calves. And dont want something too revealing and short infront.
Hopefully I'll be able to pull it off haha.

Steering....

Please tell me how the hell it is possible to drive like a douchebag when you have power steering? Seriously!!! You basically just touch the steering-wheel and the car moves. Don't you think?

What brought upon this rage, was this idiot person (and obviously it had to be a female, yeh yeh I said it) who struggled to parallel park in her BMW 1 series. Typical poppie if you tell me.  I sat in the car literally laughing at her. This is one of the reasons why I love my VW Golf MK1. It taught me to park PROPERLY :) It made me love parking too heehee. Because every parking is like a challenge! I even park better than a lot of guys. But the point I was trying to make was that some females just don't deserve to be on the road LOL I'm probably going to be slaughtered for this.
