remember remember the 5th of november
"Remember, remember
The fifth of November
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot."
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot."
But what of the man? I know his name was Guy Fawkes, and I know that, in 1605, he attempted to blow up the houses of Parliament. But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught. He can be killed and forgotten. But four hundred years later an idea can still change the world. I've witnessed firsthand the power of ideas. I've seen people kill in the name of them; and die defending them. But you cannot kill an idea, cannot touch it or hold it. Ideas do not bleed, it cannot feel pain, and it does not love. And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man. A man who made me remember the fifth of November. A man I will never forget.
random sexy times
I always say, never sleep with someone you wouldn’t want to be. ~Lisa Chase PattersonPay attention to whom you share your intimate energy with. Intimacy at this level intertwines your aural energy with the aural energy of the other person. These powerful connections, regardless of how insignificant you think they are, leave spiritual debris, particularly within people who do not practice any type of cleansing, physical, emotional or otherwise.
The more you interact intimately with someone, the deeper the connection and the more of their aura is intertwined with yours.
Imagine the confused aura of someone who sleeps with multiple people and carries around these multiple energies? What they may not realize is that others can feel that energy which can repel positive energy and attract negative energy into your life.

(Kindly note that what is said here, is just that. My opinion is mine alone. Whether biased or not)
For the last few weeks this issue has been hanging over my head. And this goes mainly to the people of Paarl. I've been reading a lot of peoples posts on Facebook. And one thing that really frustrates me, is the fact the people who don't know jack shit about politics, want to talk politics. Some even became a bit racist. I guess its like Chris Rock says, "Patriotism, turned into hatriotism"
Which brings me to my next point. Instead of being concerned with President Zuma and his doings, whether wrong or right. Why dont you all concentrate your energy on whats going on here right in front of your doorstep. Nou mense dink mos altyd, net omdat ek nie saam praat nie, luister ek nie.
1) The high electricity tarrifs
Are you aware that here in Drakenstein we are the only citizens paying such a high tarrif for prepaid electricity? That it is illegal? and that we as taxpayers should be informed of said decisions? But yet vra niemand vra nie, want if its all white its all right!
2) Super BAD Service Delivery
What have the current council been up to thus far? I dont see any new projects? The parks and recreational facilities looks like shit. Only "in certain areas" you can see that maintenance gets done regularly.
3) Where in the World is the Mayor?
But yet you never find her there. Shes always off to some flashy event, promoting her business, that shes always to busy to tend to her peoples needs. Ye ye I said it. So waarmee is hulle besig??
4) The firing of a lot of non - white staff.... (not even Blacks)
Ever since the current Mayor and her "cabinet" has been in council, they have single handedly ruined many upstanding hardworking peoples careers.
Now call me Susan and slap me silly if you havent thought about this. Because word have it, they are imprisoned.
Nou wil ek by julle weet. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying vote ANC. But maak ingeligte besluite next time yor. But yet sit ons mense mos net agteroor en se niks, coz IF ITS ALL RIGHT, ITS ALL WHITE!!!
THIS SHIT IS REAL AND ITS HERE!!!!

shit just got real 1.0 - The Voice vs Idols
I think The Voice is so much better than Idols! Because you're being judged on your ACTUAL talent and don't get people like Gareth Cliff who is 120% bias, hates fat people and picks barbies (even if they can't sing for shit). Ye I said it!!! Besides, Idols is premeditated. Each year they already know who they want to win. Like this year, its gonna be a black dude. I kid you not! Why you might ask?
Well its simple. Every year there has been someone of different ethnicity, genre and gender. And if my predictions are correct, this is going to be the year of the black male.
What makes the Voice so brilliant is the fact they care about the contestant, and push them to reach their full potential. Not mould them into what society wants. Look at Melissa. A real poppie if you tell me. Parading around in skimpy outfits. All to stimulate the male populous just to get votes. Which already proves she doesn't really have talent. Don't you think?
Khaya will be the first black person to win Idols South Africa. Something I've longed for. People can say about Mara Louw what they want to, but she was right when she suggested that Idols be moved to SABC, to ensure that everyone can watch and vote. A lot of people don't have DSTV and therefore only the "upper class" folk are able to vote. So what do they do, they go and publicly humiliate her and sack her.
Which thus proves that Idols is actually not so equal... If that makes sense! Its obvious that Idols lost the "reality" aspect. Which makes it a crock of shit in my eyes.
And that's why we should keep it real ;)

coz we are living, in a material world...
After an interesting discussion yesterday afternoon. I couldn't help but post this. Since when do material things define who we are?
Someone asked me the other day, "Since when do our cars make us awesome?" Afrikaans vertaling: Van waaneer af maak wat jy ry, vir jou beter as ander? Ek kan my net so verkyk. Why buy a car with an instalment of a house's just to prove to idiots who don't even give a flying fuck about you, that you're the shit? LOL madness I tell you.
By all means. If you can afford it. Go for it. But do it for the right reasons. Not impress people. And don't make the car an extension of your ego. That is soooo 2000-and-LAME!
Simply put. Material possessions, and status never mattered to me. Simply put, others's opinion doesn't matter to me. In the wise words of PDivvy aka Peter DeVilliers,"I am who I am and I don't give a damn."
Small pond mentality I tell you!
Keep it real bitches!!

The Hobbit
September 21, 1937: The Hobbit is published.
J.R.R.Tolkien’s classic children’s novel turns 75 years old today. The book begins with the line “In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit”, a sentence which, according to Tolkien, came to him spontaneously while marking papers. The first edition dust jacket was designed by the author himself, who also provided the black and white illustrations. Since 1937, The Hobbit has been translated into over forty languages and sold tens of millions of copies. The initial print of 1,500 copies ran out in three months, and response was unanimously favorable. Tolkien’s close friend and fellow fantasy author C.S. Lewis wrote in The Times Literary Supplement: ”Prediction is dangerous: but The Hobbit may well prove a classic.”
Perhaps The Hobbit’s greatest legacy was not the book itself but the sequel that was published seventeen years later - the far more complex first volume of The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring. Urged on by his publishers, who wished to make the most out of the smashing success that was The Hobbit, Tolkien worked on his sequel slowly and deliberately through the years of World War II and after. Both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings brought the popularity of fantasy literature to new heights and established Tolkien as the “father” of modern high fantasy.
The first film of Peter Jackson’s new trilogy, based off The Hobbit, is set for release in December.
I don't know about you, but I am amped!! Peter Jackson never disappoints :)
Journey as a Creative
———————
In today’s society, making a living off art is one of the hardest careers to achieve. Society also creates big barriers and boundaries that make this even harder to overcome. This poster is a celebration of those that have picked up the pencil even in hard times and still push their creativity. Because that is something we can’t lose.

shit just got real 0.1
So I'm sitting here in the kitchen cooking food. My happy place :)
Anyhoo, here's always a pile of newspapers. New and Old. I always browse through everything be it newspapers, magazines, books etc to get new "material". Its then when my one friend told me to stop writing bs and start writing the real stuff LOL
She's right I suppose. So as soon as I figure out this mobile Blogger (darnit) you'll get an open and honest piece of me LOL. Once a week. Where I dissect an issue. Be it the economy, fashion, "war on terror"(said in a Bush accent) haha. I can't say I'll be unbiased. But at least I'll be keepin it real! ;)
stay awesome!!

The Mullet Dress
So as I was browsing the interwebs for a dress design. I came across this very unique style of dress. Some people call it a Hi-Low dress, but the more popular term is a MULLET DRESS. At first I laughed because I thought of the hairstyle hehe. But then realised its for that exact same reason. Short infront and long at the back. I think its cute and classy. Not to mention teasing the eyes :)
People went even as far as wearing it for wedding dresses. Which is a bit too risky for my liking but hey, to each his own! I think its really flattering. Especially if you have nice calves. And dont want something too revealing and short infront.
Steering....
Please tell me how the hell it is possible to drive like a douchebag when you have power steering? Seriously!!! You basically just touch the steering-wheel and the car moves. Don't you think?
What brought upon this rage, was this idiot person (and obviously it had to be a female, yeh yeh I said it) who struggled to parallel park in her BMW 1 series. Typical poppie if you tell me. I sat in the car literally laughing at her. This is one of the reasons why I love my VW Golf MK1. It taught me to park PROPERLY :) It made me love parking too heehee. Because every parking is like a challenge! I even park better than a lot of guys. But the point I was trying to make was that some females just don't deserve to be on the road LOL I'm probably going to be slaughtered for this.

corrupt recruitment is corrupt
I'm amazed at how long it took me to get pissed. So last week, I was invited for an interview. I went there, all prepared, and everything went well. In fact, it went great. Then I was phoned for a call back. Apparently I was one in 4 out of 400 people who got the opportunity.
So on Friday I went back, and only saw the other candidate. Skankishly dressed of course. Because the two bosses are white, Australian men in their mid 30's. Thats beside the point LOL fyi - She got the job! *facepalm
Anyhoo, to my demise, I didnt get the job. Eventhough the interview went great. And a lot of the Staff even said so. This got me thinking. They obviously already knew who they wanted. Because the person had to start today. And I couldnt help but think I was being strung along just so that they could "follow" procedure.
Which brings me to my next point. "DIS MOS LEKKER OM GOEIE MENSE VIR 'n GAT TE VAT!!" (Translation: "Its fun taking good people for a ride" - Said sarcastically of course.)
Because if you think about it, I roughly spent R200 for petrol, wasted two days of my life that I easily could've used to do something else. And more importantly, they created false hope! Yeah yeah, call me bitter. I just think its wrong to string desperate people along, just so you can benefit and scheme. Why bother calling us back, when after the first interview, you already made up your mind? And the icing on the cake was, when I asked the lady, why I was unsuccesful, she could not answer me and I'm in fact still waiting for a reply.
Yes I know life's a bitch. Yes I know this is how the job hunting goes. But I think its wrong. And that these people should go fuck themselves :)
Time is money, and if you waste my time I will get pissed!

Peplum me this, Peplum me that
I cant
fret enough about how much I love this trend. Some might say I'm a bit late,
but I don’t care. I've never really been one for trends. I love wearing what
I'm comfortable in and what makes me feel good :)
The
Peplum is the perfect thing for us plus sized girls. And girls with curves. It
accentuates the hips (which I don’t have) haha and camouflages the waist. Cant
wait to get my hands on a dress!!

Its that time of year again 25-08-2012
I
simply cant wait for the Oliver Fortuin Foundation's Annual Ball! :D
A time
to give thanks, dress up and support a great cause. An evening of glitz, glamour, awesome food, superb company and live entertainment. 250 bucks a pop.
As you
all know by now, we have a theme every year. And we thought it would be a good
idea to incorporate the Olympics in our theme this year. So we're going with
GREEK :) Fitting don’t you think? That is after all where it all started.
Just
thinking about it gives me goosebumps. Greek Goddesses. Men dressed suave. Not
to mention the fantastic décor. A blast I tell you. So I went along and got
some pics of dresses, hairstyles etc. Enjoy!!!
GOREJOUS
So I
found this little gem of a designer on twitter. Small world actually, I used to
know her brother. Anyhoo...
Tracy
Gore is a talented designer residing in the beautiful Mother City (Cape Town).
She has a very unique style and make use of fabulous radiant colours. Caters
for all shapes and sizes, and simply has a real passion for what she does.
That’s the kind of person I want to design a dress of mine :) Her designs are
feminine and oh so sexy! She is most certainly a force to be reckoned with.

But
enough of my rambling. I'll let the pictures do the talking
